Frequently asked
Frequently asked questions
What is an intensive outpatient program (IOP)?
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides structured addiction treatment, typically around nine hours of therapy per week, while you live at home and keep up with work, school, or family. It is more involved than standard outpatient care but does not require overnight stays.
How does the IOP at Clear Steps Recovery work?
You attend scheduled sessions several times a week, including individual therapy, group therapy, and family support, then return to your daily life after each session. Every plan is personalized to your needs and stage of recovery.
How is IOP different from PHP (day treatment) and standard outpatient?
Partial hospitalization (PHP, or day treatment) is the most intensive outpatient level at roughly 20 or more hours per week; IOP is a step down at about nine to twelve hours per week; standard outpatient is the least intensive. Many clients step down from PHP to IOP to outpatient as they progress.
Does insurance cover intensive outpatient treatment?
Most insurance plans cover IOP. Our admissions team can verify your benefits and explain your coverage, so reach out any time to get started.
Who is IOP a good fit for?
IOP works well for people who need structured support but have a stable home environment and responsibilities like work or school, including those stepping down from a higher level of care or those new to recovery.
